Metallic Pink Zebra Print

Here's a simple zebra print with metallic pink and glittery black. I love doing animal prints because they are so easy to make with them having random pattern!

This beautiful metallic pink is by Claire's from their Liquid Metal line. This is an intense polish which one coat is opaque enough! On the thumb and 4th finger, I painted them black with a Formula X polish.

Then I took my black nail striper and added some squiggly lines horizontally on the nails for the zebra print. Trust me, this is super easy to do. I also added some black with silver glitter onto the black nails. After apply top coat and we are done!

Polishes Used:
Pink - Claire's Liquid Metal
Black / Black Glitter - Sephora Formula X
Black Striper - Color Club

Topbox Nov 2015 Unboxing & 1st Impression

Topbox is a Canadian monthly subscription with 4 selected beauty products for $12 CAD a month, plus tax and NO shipping costs.

Click HERE to join Topbox!

What I got this month:

Benefit Cosmetics - Air Patrol
I am quite excited to try this BB cream eyelid primer because it is one of the few eye primers that has SPF 20 and PA+++. This came in a squeeze tube and the product is quite runny compared to the Urban Decay Primer Potion, which I have been using for years. It has a tint to it but it has minimum coverage. It advertises that it will even out the lid skin tone. But I think a thin layer (which is what you only need for any eye primer) might not help too much with discoloration. Anyway, I am most excited about this product in this month's box!

The Face Shop - Character Mask
TOO CUTE!! These animal face masks started in Asia and are getting very popular here in the North America. I love any masks and I think I will leave this for a special occasion! This one contains cotton seen extract, collagen, and hyaluronic acid and claims to brighten dull skin. Sounds good to me!

Nova Scotia Fisherman Extreme Skin Care - Lip Balm
This product had me at 100% natural. But wait, it is also made in Canada! This lip balm is in sea salt and caramel scent which does not really have a heavy scent, maybe a slight caramel scent if you imagine it. It also comes in an interesting push up tube. It has a caramel color in the tube, but applies colorless on the lips. I love everything natural so I will definitely be using this!
You can use the code TOPBOX for a 20% off at!

Revlon Professional - Style Masters Modular Hairspray
This is the most "meh" product in the box to me since I JUST got another hair spray in this month's Ipsy (Click HERE for first impression of November Ipsy!) But this one is way bigger and comes in an aerosol spray. It smells like typical hairspray with a nice sweet after-scent and it has medium hold.

Ice-cream Cone Nails!

How fun are these ice-cream nails? Each summer I feel like I had to make an ice-cream manicure at least once!

I started with a brown polish as the cone. Then I used a slightly darker brown to draw some diagonal lines to make the waffle pattern. Easy! This does not need to be perfect since we will be covering most of them anyway.

I then used a cream color to paint on the tip of the nails and "dragged" the brush randomly down the nail to create the dripping effect.

And now we are onto the fun part! I took 3 bright colors to add onto the ice-cream as the colorful candy toppings. Here you can pick whatever bright colors you like! After applying top coat then we are done!

Polishes Used:
Pink - LA Splash
Green - Daiso
Yellow - NYX
Dark Brown - Laura Mercier
Light Brown - Sephora Formula X
Cream - Julep
Pointy Brush

Ipsy Nov 2015 Unboxing & 1st Impression

I love that galaxy looking bag this time!! :D
What I got this month:

Josie Maran - 100% Pure Argan Oil LIght
I have been using Josie Maran's argan oil for a long time in my skincare rotation and I quite enjoy it! I am quite surprised to see this in this month's Ipsy bag since this is not a new product to many people. This oil is very nice as a face and body moisturizer, as well as a hair oil.

Smashbox Cosmetics - Full Exposure Mascara
I am excited to try this mascara as I haven't tried any mascara from Smashbox. I am starting to pay more attention to this brand since their products are quite good in quality. I am not opening this mascara tube since I won't be using it right away (I still have a line up of mascaras to open! =P)

Crown Brush - Deluxe Pointed Crease Brush
I can always use another crease blending brush and this one seems like a good size for my crease. However, the brush head got a little bent from the packaging which hopefully will be straighten out after I washed it. This feels quite nice and soft too.

Beaute Basics - Gel Eyeliner with Brush
Points for having double seals on this small gel-liner pot! I got this in navy and the color seems really nice. However, it doesn't really apply evenly and opaquely as seen on the photo. The brush that it came in with is a typically small pointy liner brush and is easy to use. The liner doesn't set or dry properly as well even after a few minutes. But I might not be using this gel-liner at all since it doesn't apply evenly.

Coolway - Stronghold Spray
I smelled this hairspray right away and it smells strongly like alcohol which is not my favourite... The instructions are pretty interesting that it says you can spray this on wet hair and blow dry to style or spray on dry hair to hold. Anyway, I think I will just use this as a normal hairspray and bring it for travel.

Leopard on Blues

Here I have a mini leopard print with two tones of blue that is super easy to do!
I always think that leopard nailart is so easy to make and yet can be quite impressive.

I started off with 2 coats of base colors using a baby blue and a cobalt blue. Both of these colors are really nice and applied smoothly. The baby blue was Julep - Jessica and the cobalt one was Revlon - Wild Card.

Once the base colors had dried, I added some small patches of the cobalt blue onto the baby blue nails using the brush from the bottle. I did the patches all over the middle finger while I only put them off to one side on the 4th finger to make them a little different.

Then I used my black nail striper and messily outlined the patches. This does not need to be neat since animal print is random anyway so it was super easy to do! On the 2nd finger, I used the baby blue and silver to make the leopard print as a contrast to the other two. For the silver outline, I took a toothpick and dipped that into the silver polish and used that as my "brush" to draw.

Products Used:
Baby Blue - Julep - Jessica
Cobalt Blue - Revlon Wild Card
Black Nail Striper - Color Club
Silver - Sephora Formula X

Stamping and Holographic Black

I haven't been doing nail stamping in a while and I was glad to find this lace pattern stamping plate in my stash. I still think nail stamping is quite fun and easy not to mention that the result can also be very impressive!

For the base color, I used a peachy nude by Nicole by OPI and a black by Formula X on the thumb and 4th finger.

I added a black holographic glitter by Claire's on the two black polished nails and the holo effect turned out quite nice! But you really have to see it in real life. It was very hard to capture holographic effects on still photos especially with indoor lighting.

I then took my stamping set and stamped on some black lace pattern on the peachy nude polished nails. See there I didn't do a perfect job... but oh well.

Textured Lilac Dotticure

Here's a simple dotticure with this beautiful textured lilac polish from Nicole by OPI. I fell in love at first sight at the store and had to get it right away. I got a mint green one of this same polish (see review HERE) from one of my subscription boxes and knew these were really good. They last on the nails really well considering I do not use a top coat over it because that would not show the texture.

On the 2nd and 3rd finger nails, after the white base had dried, I used my dotting tools to add some polka dots in different sizes with the purple lilac and a silver polish. To make it look more random, I purposely overlapped some dots!

Products Used:
Lilac: Nicole by OPI
Silver: Sally Hansen
White: OPI - Alpine Snow

[Sponsored] Bridesmaid Dress Inspired Nails

I was recently contacted by to do a series of sponsored blog posts for nailart inspired by dresses and of course I took on this exciting project!

Disclaimer: I have not bought dresses from their website and do not know the quality of the dresses or customer service. I am only showing photos of dresses on their website that I think are nice and how they inspire me for my nailart. All dresses photos are found on their website.

When I clicked into the bridesmaids dresses page HERE,  I was quite impressed by the number of style of dresses they carry. They do custom color and sizes too which means for each style you see, you can order whatever color you like that will sure fit you!

Since most people like having weddings in the warmer months, I think an above-the-knee cut bridesmaids dresses in chiffon material and a soft pastel color is perfect! This style is very popular and timeless whether it is strapless,or with one or both shoulder straps.

Here's a romantic design that I think is super nice. I like the sweep train with the flowy asymmetrical drape of loose folds on one side. Can't I just wear this and go out like on a normal day??

Here I picked a green lace above-the-knee dress with a triangular cut out back for my nailart inspiration. This style is something I would wear even to work (well, maybe with a little cardigan over so I am not show too much skin on the back :P). I love one piece short dresses like this one because I can wear them both in the summer and winter (with leggings)!

Products Used:
Cream: Julep
Green: Zoya
Stamping Plate Set

Other than bridesmaids dresses, I also found some dresses that are not just for bridesmaids and that you can also wear on other occasions. I quite like this dark navy cocktail dress with the ruffle detail on the shoulders and the flowy pleats bottom.

Palm Tree at Gradient Sunset

This sunset colors with a palm tree manicure reminds me of a romantic vacation!

First I painted all nails with a soft orange color as a base. After waiting for it to completely dry, I sponged on the gradient/ombre sunset effect using the same orange, a fuchsia pink, and a purple polish. I usually put tape around the nails to protect the skin around it so I would have minimal clean up to do!

I then used my black nail striper to draw the palm tree on the 4th finger and it was easier then I thought. I used just black so it would look like the sunset background is so bright that the tree is in the shadow!

Polishes Used:
Pink - LA Splash
Orange - OPI
Black Striper - Color Club
Purple - Nails Inc.
