Deborah Lippmann Nude Pink Set

0

Here's an elegant and sparkly set using nude pink with glitter and nail studs that is very easy to do! This was done by only using the Deborah Lippmann's holiday collection set.

This set came in a cute clear box with snow flakes that move around when you shake it (don't worry, the snow flakes are contained within another compartment and will not make a mess when you open it).

I used the solid nude pink color Modern Love in 2 coats as a base. It applied smoothly and did not leave streaks. Then I sponged on the glitter polish Some Enchanted Evening on the thumb and 4th finger. Sponging on glitter gives a more intense density in way lesser time and layers. I love this trick if I want a dense glitter look.

To finish off the look, I added pinkish silver nail jewel studs on the rest of the fingers and applied top coat.

Julep April 2016 Unboxing and First Impression

0

Julep is a nail polish and makeup brand that also does customized subscription boxes. That is, you can pick what you want to be sent to you, how cool is that?

Click HERE to join Julep!

What I ordered:

I was most excited about this lip oil since this seems to be the trend with lots of brands coming up with tinted lip oil that is also good for the lips. I already love Julep's matte lip mousses (I have almost all the colors) in the same packaging so I had high hope for this!

I got the color Obsessed and it is the darkest of all 4 lip oils they have now. I knew these oils only have a sheer tint so I went for the darkest one. In the tube it looks like a sheer red oil but it actually swatched to be a nice pink or "my lips but way better" look. It has a light candy scent which reminds me of the Japanese calpico drink!

The lip oil also contains great ingredients that are supposed to be hydrating and nourishing. This makes my lips look so juicy with a pretty pink color and I think juicy lips are great for the warmer months. The oil does not feel greasy or thick on the lips. It wears really comfortably and the tint will stay for a long time!

The application wand is a tapered flat sponge tip and both sides are almost symmetric with one side curves a little more. I just use either side for my bottom lip then I flip it over and use the other side for my top lip. This gives me the perfect amount!

Here are the 4 colors to choose from.

I also got the roller cuticle oil in this box. This would be my 3rd bottle. I carry this in my purse and use it whenever I remember! This oil absorbs fast and is very moisturizing. This is my favourite on-the-go cuticle oil!

The last item I ordered is the Oxygen Performance Top Coat (all Julep's nail polishes are 5 free and non-toxic). This is my 2nd time ordering this fast drying and long lasting top coat. However, it would be nice if I can see how much is left in the bottle. I ran out without evening knowing it and I didn't have a back up!

What are your favourite items and what do I need to try next time?

Metallic Purple Ornaments

0

More Christmas nails, why not? Here's one with polka dots purple ornaments. Let's start!

For the base, I used a metallic purple, a textured black, and a cream grey polish. On the 2nd and 3rd finger nails, I used the same purple and a silver to draw half circles at the tips for the body of the ornaments.

Then I added some polka dots using the opposite colors on the half circle and also drew a hanging line to the back of the nail.

Then I finished it off with a bow on each ornament and we are done!

Products Used:
Silver, Textured Black, Purple - Julep
Grey - Butter London

Rudolph the Reindeer Nails

0

Here's another cute Christmas nailart with the red-nose reindeer!

For the color base, I chose pink, white and brown polishes. Brown is for the Rudolph's face and you can basically pick any color combinations you want for the other nails!

This pink polish is Julep's Jenny and it is a gorgeous fuchsia pink with some fine gold shimmer!

To make the Rudolph's face, I dotted the white eyes and another dot for the big red nose. On the white nail, I painted different sizes of pink polka dots  to make a more random effect.

I then completed the reindeer's face with smaller dots of black eyes and added the antlers with a dark brown polish using a tiny detailing brush. After applying top coat and we are done!

Polishes Used:
White - OPI
Dark Brown - Laura Mercier
Brown - Deborah Lippmann
Red, Soft White, Pink - Julep
Black - Sasatinnie

Ipsy May 2016 Unboxing and First Impression

0

Ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription service that comes with a new makeup bag and 5 beauty sample products for the price of $10 USD/month.

Click HERE to join Ipsy!

This month's makeup bag has a travel theme with famous travel sites monogram and I got the purple version (I saw other color versions online as well). I love the "around the world" print! It also opens like an envelope instead of the typical zipper. Very unique!

What I got this month:

Hikari - Shimmer Bronzer in Radiate - 7 g
There are 4 sections in this bronzer and I think the 2 golden bronze color are the same. I think you can use them separately or swirl all colors together to make a customized bronzer. The texture is not as smooth and a bit dry. But they are all very pigmented.

Epice International - Hydrating Mask - 30 g
I love face masks and I try to do one everyday! My favourite type of mask is hydrating and I am excited to try this out. This liquid mask will be handy and easy to use.

The Organic Pharmacy - Antioxidant Lip Balm - 7 ml
I love organic skincare and I always can have another lip balm! I don't think there is a scent to this lip balm and it feels quite nice and will give a glossy effect on the lips. Like!

Smashbox - X-Rated Mascara
I think this is a new product from the brand and I always like to receive mascaras! But I am not going to open this tube since I still have a line-up of mascara to use!

Slmissglam - Small Contour W07 Brush
This is an interesting size of brush. It is too small for face contour but too big for eyes makeup. I think it will be a nose contour brush for me or even an under-eye setting brush. It definitely feels very soft!

Gingerbread Man Nails

0

Hey Mr. Gingerbread Man!!! How cute is this manicure? I was totally in love of this cute Christmas nailart. Let's start!

For the base, I used a white and a deep olive green polish with fine sparkles.

This dark green was Julep's Darby. Look closely at that sparkles!

On the white nails, I drew the outline of the gingerbread man over the 2 nails using a brown polish and a tiny detail brush. At this point, it looks like an outline of the dead body after a crime scene...LOL

Then I just simply filled the gingerbread's body with the same brown shade.

I added the face with a white polish and some green glitter on the white space at the background which also match the other nails!

Polishes Used:
Dark Green / Green Glitter - Julep
White - OPI
Brown - Deborah Lippmann

Glossybox April 2016 Unboxing & First Impression

0

Glossybox is a monthly beauty subscription with 5 luxury products which costs $21 USD per month. There is also a little discount if you subscribe to a longer period of time.

Click HERE to join Glossybox!

What I got this month:

Unani - Dermo Defense Face Mask - 100 ml
This face mask claims to hyrate and protect the skin using aloe and ayurvedi herbs (no idea what that is!). It has a clear gel texture with a slight fresh scent that is quite nice but not too strong. The ingredients seem pretty good without the really harsh chemicals! Like!

Leighton Denny - Nail Polish in Pillow Talk - 12 ml
This is a deep berry color polish. I have never of this brand but YAY for nail polish! The left swatch was 1 coat and right swatch was with 2.

Norwell - Eau De Parfum - 7.5 ml
This little bottle is very cute and elegant looking! I really like the scent too! It is a light floral scent that features "an airy bouquet of mandarin, bergamot, and jasmine tied to base notes of sandalwood and vanilla for a sensual finish". I like this scent!

Studio 10 - Brow Lift Perfecting Liner - 2 sided
This is a double-sided brow and highlight pencil which would need to be sharpened. The brow color is a nice cool light brown and I think that would work well for me. I don't usually highlight the edges of my brows but hey, that's why we get these subscription boxes right?

Biossance - Rose Face Oil - 4 ml
This oil seems very nice! I like how it is not greasy and the rose scent is not strong at all! I think it is quite good in quality too! It "adds a shot of powerful vitamin C and plant-derived squalane into your skincare routine". The full size of 30 ml costs $72 USD, wow... I am excited to try this!

Overall
Although I have never heard of any of these brands before in this month's box, the first impression of all products seems pretty good! I think most of them are very luxury and I can already tell the quality of some that they will perform well!

Santa's Hat Nails

0

Here's another cute holiday nails that was very easy to do!

First I painted 3 nails in a solid grey with little shimmer. On the thumb and 4th finger, I painted a sparkly red on the tip and dragged the polish down the nail for the hanging hat!

Then I dotted a white polish on the seam of the red to make the fluffy white outline of the Santa's hat. I also added a silver outline at the white ball and chunky red glitter on the other nails. Easy and cute!

Products Used:
Grey - Julep
Red - Butter London
White - Revlon
Red Glitter - Ardene
